Call of Duty: Black Ops [alterOps]

How to play:
  • Install Call of Duty: Black Ops
  • If you have it from steam, copy it to another directory
  • Get the alterOps files from http://alterops.net/
  • Extract the files from the zip into your BO dir and run alterOps.exe
  • Let it update (this step might take some time)
  • Login using your forum details
  • ???
  • Profit?

How to host a server:
  • Make sure you have BO and alterOps updated.
  • Request a key on http://alterops.net/
  • Press "Download dwkey.dat" and save it to your BO folder
  • The key on the first line is sv_licensenum 0, so use that in your commandline
  • Run BlackOpsMP.exe +set dedicated 1 +set sv_licensenum 0 +exec server.cfg +map mp_nuked

FAQ:

Q.: When will alterOps be released?
A.: ETA is unknown. Making topics about final release will result in a warn/ban.

Q.: How can I play Singleplayer or zombies?
A.: You can't. alterOps currently supports multiplayer, and multiplayer only.

Q.: Help, my stats keep resetting every time I launch the game!
A.: Stats reset when the server is down at exiting the client because they cannot save. Making topics about your stats resetting will result in a warn/ban.

Q.: Error: 'your stats could not be validated'!
A.: Open the console game and type in /resetStats, after a box will appear 'Downloading game settings', let it to finish it and a message will appear saying that your stats has been reset.

Q.: Connecting/Downloading Game Setttings/Fetching Stats Error
A.: This is a commonly known error, as the servers are currently unstable. If you are getting this message, be patient and wait for the servers to go back up.

Q.: Help! I can't download the files from http://www.alterOps.net/
A.: As mentioned in size 200 font at the beginning of this topic, your account must be 6 months old and you must have a minimum of 25 posts. Spamming for 25 posts will result in a permanent ban.

Q.: Will level hacking be allowed?
A.: No.

Q.: Credui.dll error/cannot launch game on XP
A.: alterOps will not work on Windows XP. Update your 10 year operating system or deal with it.

Q.: Will there be theater mode in alterOps?
A.: Most likely not, as demo recording is fully functional in Black Ops.
